Özet

Çalışmamızda Molière’in “Adamcıl” (Le Misanthrope, 1666) oyununda hakim olduğu açıkça belli olan “onur” kavramının anlambilimsel bir okumasını yapmayı amaçlamaktayız. “Onur” veya “Erdemli İnsan” kavramları oyunun genelinde, benzer anlamlara gelen karşılıklarıyla beraber o kadar çok tekrarlanır ki Molière’in “onur”kavramı üzerinden yapmaya giriş tiğ i toplumsal eleştirinin gözlerden kaçması imkansız hale gelir. Söz konusu sözcük, deyiş  ve kavramların hem 1600’ler Fransızcasında hem de günümüzdeki anlamları ele alındığında söz konusu eleştirel duruş  daha net hale gelmektedir. Bu s.zcüklerin metinde kaç defa kullanıldığı, karşıtlarının hangi bağlamlarda kullanıldığı gibi yüzeysel saptamalar üzerinden anlambilimsel bağ lamda derin yapıya inerek Molière’in, dönemin toplumunun ikiyüzlülüğü karşısındaki eleştirel duruşunu temellendirebilmekteyiz.

In this study entitled “A Look at Classical Notions such as Honor in Molière’s ‘Le Misanthrope’ Through Semantics”, we will focus on the semantic changes of frequently used words in ‘Le Misanthrope’ such as “honor”, “honorary” and most importantly, the notion of “honnête homme” (honest / honorary man) and by doing so, we will try to expand the narrative unfolding around the play’s main character, Alceste. In his play, Molière criticizes main issues in society like deceit, cunning, trickery or corruption through the character of Alceste. In many of his monologues, we can see this profound criticism of humanity and degeneration. We aimed to observe the process of this satire through the semantic analysis of the words used in the play by the characters, especially by Alceste. We tried to unveil a more profound meaning through the semiotics’ point of view.
