Mahmut b. Süleyman el-Kefevî, “el-Ketâib” adlı eserinin, Ebû
Yusuf’la (ö. 182/798) başlatıp es-Saymerî (ö. 436/1044-45) ile bitirdiği
yaklaşık üç asırlık dönemi kapsayan ilk altı ketîbesini, mütekaddimin dönemine,
diğer bir ifade ile mezhebin teşekkül dönemi fukahasına ayırır.
Eser, bu dönemi,
“kişiler”, “eserler” ve “iktibaslar” olmak üzere üç ana başlık altında inceler.
Böylece: Mezhebin hangi ilmî havzalarda, hangi zaman diliminde kimler kanalıyla
yayıldığını isitatistikî bilgiler, haritalar ve tablolar halinde sunar, bu
zaman zarfında oluşturulan mezhep literatürü ile nasıl bir “mezhep bilgi
sistemi” teşkil edildiği hususunu tablolar halinde gösterir, bir de iktibas
zengini bir eser olan “el-Ketâib”deki iktibasların hangi gerekçelerle
yapıldığını örnekler üzerinden takdim etmeye çalışır.

Suleyman el-Kefevi reserves first six ketibe of his magnum opus el-Kataib,
to the jurists (fuqaha) of muteqaddimun or formation period of Hanafi school
which covers approximately three centuries. The biography of Abu Yusuf (d.
182/798) is the first biography of the section and it ends with el-Saymeri’s
(d. 436/1044-5).
In this paper
we study this period under three headings: People, Books, Quotations.
We will present:
the spread of the Hanafi school with statistical information, maps and tables emphasising
on scholarly environments, time periods and key personalities, the formation of
information system of the school on the bases of scholarly literature produced
by Hanafi jurists, the reason of quotation employed by the author in his frequent
quotations in el-Kataib.
